Rebecca Schiavo

Position title: Cell and Molecular Biology PhD Student


Rebecca grew up in Livonia, Michigan, just outside of Detroit. She received her BSc in Neuroscience from Michigan State University in 2015. She joined the Tamplin lab as a Pharmacology PhD student in 2017 after rotating through the Graduate Education in Medical Sciences (GEMS) program at UIC. She transferred to University of Wisconsin – Madison when the Tamplin Lab moved in early 2020 and will be continuing her degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. Rebecca’s project focuses on understanding hematopoietic stem cell fate decisions within the dorsal aorta.

When not in lab, Rebecca enjoys outdoor activities, visiting cat cafes and craft breweries.
